No masts and sails or belching funnels are caught in the moonlight, nothing drives it against the river’s current. Yet on it comes, in silence and in darkness. It should not be alone - moored downriver, away from the eyes of the city, are a rotting fleet of 40 such hulks. Each is more than a century old, and cages a multitude of condemned souls - many thousands in total, not a single one of whom has ever returned to the city...

No masts and sails or belching funnels are caught in the moonlight, nothing drives it against the river’s current. Yet on it comes, in silence and in darkness. It should not be alone - moored downriver, away from the eyes of the city, are a rotting fleet of 40 such hulks. Each is more than a century old, and cages a multitude of condemned souls - many thousands in total, not a single one of whom has ever returned to the city. For what purpose have they been secreted away by the city’s authoritarian rulers? Has some horror befallen the flotilla? What strange force compels the solitary prison hulk towards the city? These are the questions that your master would have you answer. Time is short, however: in a matter of hours the hulk will reach Dunfell and with the rising sun will be spotted, and the opportunity squandered.

Idiot God is a weird, industrial horror game. It balances a grounded approach to world-building with comically grim-dark satire in the vein of 90s Warhammer or Judge Dredd. You play a group of lowly compatriots (some plain but competent, others delightfully odd) who have found themselves indentured by debt to a mysterious master, who has you do their bidding. The system maintains the story and player-driven focus of other Blades in the Dark-style games while making key modifications to encourage thoughtful investigation, facilitate mystery-driven plots, and make combat both harrowing and more engaging.
